Working Principle of Tact Switch

The working principle of a Tact Switch is based on the deformation of its internal mechanical structure to control the circuit's operation. It typically consists of an elastic membrane, metal contacts, and a spring.

1.Pressing Action: When the user presses the button, the applied force compresses the elastic membrane or spring, causing the metal contacts to touch.

2.Circuit Closure: Once the contacts are closed, current flows through the switch, completing the circuit and allowing electricity to pass.

3.Release Action: When the button is released, the elastic material returns to its original shape, separating the contacts and breaking the circuit, stopping the current flow. This process is quick and efficient.

4.Feedback and Durability: When pressed, the switch provides tactile or auditory feedback, usually in the form of a "click" sound or slight vibration, helping the user confirm the operation.

Due to its simple structure, responsive operation, and compact size, the tact switch is widely used in various electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, and household appliances. It is particularly suitable for applications where space is limited and low power consumption is required.
